The Consortium of Bengali Associations was established in 1997. It is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee governed by its Memorandum and Articles of Association. The Association is managed by a Council of Management who consists of directors elected by the membership at the Annual General Meeting. The Council of Management meets 5 or 6 times a year and has sub committees covering Personnel, Governance and Policy Making and Organisational Development. A Director is appointed by the Council of Management to manage the day to day operations of the Association.
Since being established CBA has played an important part of the development of many Bengali led voluntary organisations that serve the Bengali community. It provides a range of services to encourage and support voluntary action and to promote the increasingly important role of the Bengali voluntary and community sector in the United Kingdom. CBA received funding from public bodies and some are also raised through its own efforts. This report illustrates the range of services offered by CBA to support and encourage the work carried out by many voluntary and community organisations in the UK. |
